I do like that you listed the testosterone lowering products my guess is that it is just a small amount of products. I like that you also have articles on the good things that help raise testosterone. This is a much-needed post.

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Fred,

Wow, I didn’t realize there were so many things that could lower testosterone. This is really an eye opener especially for someone like me that is pushing 40.
I think I’m going to stop washing my hair lol jk. Even though I’m almost 40 I still want to gain muscle and low testosterone would not help me one bit.
Do you have any suggestions on how to make sure I keep my testosterone up?

    1. Nate Stone says:

I must say that I found this article very helpful and interesting. I did not know that so many things that we use daily can low testosterone and I think that we should pay more attention on it, especially men. Do you think that consuming testosterone as a supplement is worth it?

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Daniel,

I’m glad you found this useful!

Yeah keeping healthy T levels is important for a number of reasons, I suggest you check out these testosterone and health articles to get a clearer idea of the health benefits of increased T and risks from having low testosterone levels.

In extreme cases taking medical testosterone is required but supplements can usually be replicated through diet and taking vitamin and mineral supplements, which is far more cost effective. Check out this foods that boost testosterone production article as a good starting place.

  7. Nuttanee says:

omg the list that can lower the testosterone are scary. We are exposed to all the list! Is that even legal? I mean there are things in life that we cannot avoid such as toothpaste and plastic utensils…. omg what kind of world we live in. I didn’t know that is scary. I guess it probably won’t harm me as much as my husband. Just forwared the post to him. Hopefully he is more aware of it now.

Thanks for the post! Very informative!

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Nuttanee,

yes unfortunately a number of the chemicals found in products we use daily are now shown to be toxic. It is possible to get alternatives to these products that contain these toxic chemicals, take a look at this things that lower testosterone & alternatives & things that lower testosterone – Alternatives to plastic articles, to get an idea of what alternative products there are out there.

  8. John says:

This is a very good informative post in the things that lower tesfosterone level. I guess I was not formerly well informed about some of this contributors that you have written here. I would’ve never thought that bad diet also contributed to this. I think I need to go over your post over again and again. Nice post!

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey John,

I’m glad you’ve found this article useful!

Yeah sadly are large number of different things that lower testosterone, many of which most people are exposed to on a daily basis. There is quite a bit to take in, I’d advise checking out the other article I’ve provided links to in this one, as they will cover things off in greater detail.

  9. Lisa says:

Wow. I am so impressed with this website. It has a multitude of information of things to lower T and then you went above and beyond to make sure we know what helps with testosterone. This has definitely been discussed and a well-needed site. I know of several men that suffer from this. Their Drs dragged their feet when it came to testing for it. One said the symptoms were common for his age. He got a second opinion and tests showing very low Testosterone. Great job educating men and women. It happens to us both.

    All the Best

    Melissa

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Lisa,

Thanks, I’m glad you’ve find this article and my site interesting.

Yeah low testosterone isn’t something that Drs are always willing to test for, diagnose or do something about. Yeah your T does lower once you pass the age of 30; but due to us being exposed to more things that lower testosterone than ever before, T levels are even lower than they should be, hopefully these tips will go towards helping people to help themselves reverse this problem.

  10. Wilson says:

I didn’t know that tap water decreases testosterone! I’m assuming bottled water is good to drink then? I also didn’t know that working out the wrong way could lower testosterone. Good thing I don’t work out to failure or for more than a hour. Now I have a good reason to not go to hard lol. I didn’t realize that so many things affected testosterone! What diet would you recommend to boost testosterone!

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Wilson,

So yeah the chemicals in tap water can lower testosterone, I’d advise using a water filter!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news can include BPA, BPS & phthalates, again I’d advise using filtered water and drinking from glass or stainless steel.

Yeah still work hard in the gym, just leave a couple of reps “in the tank” per set, so you aren’t working to complete failure, also make sure you are resting appropriately between each set, so ideally two minutes as minimum when lifting heavy weights.

In terms of diet, I would recommend a low carb (approx. 20% carbs) high saturated  fat diet, something like the paleo or keto is ideal.

  11. Benson says:

It’s nice learning about what can cause low testosterone levels in humans. Lack of knowledge about do many thing can greatly affect our lives and we wouldn’t know where such is coming from. Testosterone level may lead to low self-esteem and that ist good at all. Its surprises me to know that some of our oral products can be of negative effects to us. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post.

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Benson,

Low testosterone can certainly lead to low self esteem; but realistically that is just the tip of the iceberg. It can lead to depression, increased risk of strokes, increased risk of heart attacks, increased risk of type 2 diabetes, weak bones, to name a few things.

Yeah sadly there are a lot of things that lower testosterone that we seem to exposed to daily, the good news is, we can swap these products for non toxic alternatives. You will see a benefit in both your testosterone production; and your wider health!

  12. Travis says:

As I get older, I have worried about having lower testosterone. After reading your post, I am even more worried now, since most of the things you write about are a big part of my life. I had not idea that drinking tap water could affect testosterone! I already knew that my diet could use some work, with a lot of processed foods, but I would never have though about checking my toothpaste or shampoo. I will definitely have to look into what I use and make changes if necessary. Thank you for the help!

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Tavis,

No worries and sorry if I’ve given you a scare!

Yeah so tap water can contain chemicals that lower testosterone; I would just suggest investing in water filter, your testosterone levels will likely benefit; but so will your health as a whole!

You aren’t alone where a number of things that lower testosterone are part of your daily routine. I’d reduce your intake of processed foods, your T levels will benefit as will your health as a whole!

I’d also look at swapping your personal care products that contain these toxic chemicals. You can check out a couple of the brands I recommend for a testosterone booster here
