There Are Tons Of Things That Lower Testosterone You Likely Do Daily

Here Are Four More for You To Be Aware Of!

You may have seen some of the other articles in this series, well here are four more things that lower testosterone, for you to avoid.

If you haven’t seen the other articles in this series, you can check them out below:

Daily Things That Lower Testosterone

So lets take a look at some more of the things that lower testosterone you may be doing daily.

We will also be looking at some alternatives you can consider, that won’t negatively impact testosterone production.

Drinking Alcohol

Beer

I can’t deny anyone the occasional alcoholic tipple; but what you need to know is that all alcohol suppresses testosterone production & is inflammatory.

The more alcohol that you drink, the greater the levels of suppression & the higher your levels of inflammation will be.

Higher inflammation means lower testosterone production, but also leads to a number of health issues.

So I definitely suggest only drinking on the odd occasion!  You will see your testosterone levels benefit & your health as a whole.

While I’m not encouraging you to drink alcohol, I personally like to occasionally have a drink, so I can’t fault anyone else.

The main advice I can give is to avoid all beers, ales and lagers as they are extremely estrogenic.

The best alcohol as far as testosterone production is concerned is clear spirits without mixers & red wine.

Skin Care Routine

moisturiser

I’m sure there are certain things that you do in terms of your skin care or skin routine on a daily basis.

Most people’s routines will include some/ all the below and perhaps a few more items:

  • Face Washes
  • Moisturisers
  • Anti Aging Creams
  • Skin masks
  • Eye Roll On
  • Lip Balm

The above products are manufactured with chemicals like parabens, SLS & many more are endocrine disruptors & chemicals that mimic estrogen.

So they negatively impact hormone production & are linked to lower testosterone production & negatively impacted wider health.

If you want to find out more about the risk that these chemicals pose to your testosterone production & health as a whole.

I suggest you check out the below article, you can also see all the different products, that contain these chemicals.

Chemicals That Lower Testosterone – Where Are They Found

There are brands that are manufactured without these chemicals.

There are two that I specifically use. These are Bulldog Cosmetics & Mancave Cosmetics which you can learn more about below:

Overdoing It In The Gym

Man Doing Weights

Your body becoming exhausted is one of the major causes of chronic high cortisol levels.

Suffering from consistently high cortisol levels is one of the major causes of lowered testosterone production.

So you need to make sure you incorporate at least one rest day per week and adequate rest periods during your workouts.

There have been a few different studies in to the effects of how overdoing it during your work out can lead to lowered testosterone production.

One showed that men who “felt the burn” & carried on working out, saw a 40% drop in T levels.

As I stated, you need to make sure you incorporate rest periods into your workouts.

When it comes to rest periods, research suggests that a 120 seconds between weight lifting sets is best to boost testosterone production.

Drinking Tap Water

tap water

I’ve previously brought up not drinking enough water and how being dehydrated is one of the major things that lowers testosterone production.

The irony is that you need to be careful what water you drink as well. The reason tap water is an issue is it can contain chemicals that lower testosterone.

Much like the chemicals found in skin care products, these chemicals are endocrine disruptors.

The main endocrine disrupting chemicals found in water you may be familiar with, they are fluoride and chlorine.

The best way to avoid these chemicals is to invest in a water filter.

You get different levels of filtering, not too shockingly the more you need filtered out, the more the filters are going to cost.

You standard filter will remove chlorine and most impurities, in order to remove chlorine though, you will need one of the higher end devices.

You can check out the different types of filters in this article here:

Thanks for the informative post. I had no idea that those things could lower testosterone. I will be more careful. Your site is very helpful and practical. For sure I will be browsing through it a lot more.
    Thanks.

      Hi John,

Glad that you found this useful!

Yeah sadly there are number of things that lower testosterone we’re exposed to on a daily basis, avoiding them the things listed will help improve your T levels and your health as a whole!

As someone who is active in promoting fitness, I really do love this article. The information you’ve put out about over-exhausting yourself during workouts is something I’ve just recently been reading about and lowering your testosterone! Thanks for the great info

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Justin,

      Glad you found it useful!

yeah overdoing it in the gym is one of the most common things that lowers testosterone without people even realising. Any questions just let me know!

  3. Jan says:

Wow, this is so much to take in! I knew that alcohol could be an obstacle, but too much gym? I had never thought about that. And then also tap water?
Please, I have to hydrate and can’t spend a fortune. And what about all those plastic bottle wastes?
I have been thinking for sometime now about getting this medical device for cleaning your tapwater. What do you think? Would you approve?

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Jan,

I’m glad that you found this article useful!

Yeah sadly there are a lot of things that lower testosterone we are exposed to daily. My approach is to modify what you can, I personally use a filter for my tap and I’m a big fan of them, so would definitely consider that!

  4. Jim says:

    Alcohol -check.
Skin Care Routine -could be why so many guys now-a-days wanna be women? So I’m OK here. Don’t touch the stuff.
Yet I agree with what you’ve written. Dangerous.
    .
Only got to the makeup stuff. Ha
    .
This all looks interesting, Nate. Loads of research &/or knowing went into building up this site. I did hop around some, yet right now I’m streatched for time. And this kind of stuff draws me in.
    .
Have some other areas for you concerning lower & lowering “T”.
I’ll stop by @ a later time & see what I can find. Me? -keep away from the microwave foods & plastic packagings. Definately the plastics -estrogen like compounds.
Squats with the free weights best for boosting back up the “T”. Takes some time, like any hormone naturally does. Yet will get rid of that way difficult to be rid of belly fat. Fine tune’n (& obese).
    .
Nice site. I really like it.

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hey Jim,

Thanks I’m glad you liked it!

Sounds that you have a fair few of these things on “lockdown” already!

Yeah a lot of the things that lower testosterone production are related to beauty and metro sexuality, so if that isn’t “your bag” again you won’t be exposed as some people.

Yeah please do come back to the site and if you have any questions, just drop me a question.

  5. Lungowe says:

Although I’m a woman, I learned a lot from this informative article and have shared it with my husband. It was a surprise to find that tap water is a culprit because we live in an area where the local council and the water authority have gone to great lengths to point out how pure the tap water is. I’ll have a look at the levels of chlorine and fluoride to find out exactly what they mean by pure.

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Lungowe,

I’m glad that you found this article useful!

Yeah do look in to it, water is usually one of the most suprsing things that lower testosterone production for most people.

If your water is low in chlorine and fluroide excellent, if not I would suggest investing in a filter.

  6. Ionut says:

Wow, I didn’t know that chemicals from the skincare products that we use daily may affect the T-levels!

That’s something to keep in mind!

Thank you for this helpful information!

    Ionut

    1. Nate Stone says:

      Hi Ionut,

Yeah sadly the chemicals in skin care items, oral care items and even showrer items (shamppo etc.) are all things that lower testosterone.

These toxic chemicals sneeak their way in to a lot of our products; but the good news is if you opt for products free of toxic chemicals, your T levels and health won’t suffer.
