Can There Really Be Ten Things That Lower Testosterone I Use On A Daily Basis?
Sadly The Answer Is Likely Yes There Are & Probably Even More Than 10
These Are Likely The 10 Most Common Though!
Numbers 9 & 10 Will Be Pretty Shocking!
Non Stick Frying Pan
I hear you thinking to yourself but I use my non-stick frying pan to prepare my food, surely this can’t be one of the things that lower testosterone daily.
The fact is, that unless your non-stick pan is ceramic, cast iron or stainless steel, it’s likely leaching toxic chemicals that lower testosterone & potentially do worse in to your food.
If you use a Teflon, Nickel, Copper, Aluminium or Cadmium pan, (even pans that are partially made from these).
There is an extremely good chance that toxic chemicals that lower testosterone, are carcinogenic & endocrine disruptors are making their way in your food.
You can find out more about this in my article on Do Your Frying Pans Seep Chemicals That Lower Testosterone
Plastic Cooking Utensils
So we’ve spoken about what you cook in, now we’re looking at the utensils you then use.
By this I mean things like spatulas, mixing jugs, stirring spoons etc.
The key word here is plastic, most plastics contain toxic chemicals, with the main ones being phthalates, BPA & BPS.
Now BPA you may have heard of, as it’s had a fair bit of press over recent years.
If you don’t know BPA & BPS are endocrine disruptors and chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body.
BPA has come in to particular prominence & people are more aware of the health risks.
As a result of this a lot of products are now BPA free; but sadly that doesn’t mean these products are free of all endocrine disrupting chemicals & the chemicals that lower testosterone production.
These products that are BPA free usually contain BPS & other toxic chemicals.
Plastic Vessels/ Eating Containers & Apparatus
As I’m sure you can tell, plastics are a recurring theme in terms of things that lower testosterone.
Many people drink from plastic cups, may use plastic bowls & plastic cutlery etc. when purchasing lunch.
Again these expose to you the toxic chemicals which are endocrine disruptors & chemicals that lower testosterone.
The biggest issue comes when these items are heated, so I advise avoiding altogether.
But you definitively don’t want to be using any plastic food or drink containers that have been heated or exposed to heat!
Shower Gel
The majority of shower gel brands are manufactured sing a whole host of toxic chemicals that lower testosterone.
A number of these chemicals behave as our old friends endocrine disruptors and also imitate estrogen.
So again they can ruin hormone & testosterone production & further negative impact the balance between testosterone & estrogen.
You can find out more about what these chemicals/ ingredients are.
And the type of product brands you can opt for that aren’t manufactured with things that lower testosterone in this article below.
5 Chemicals That Lower Testosterone Found In Shower Gels
Toothpaste
Much like shower gels, the majority toothpaste brands are manufactured using chemicals/ things that lower testosterone.
In fact many of the same toxic chemicals found in shower gels are also found in toothpastes.
On top of this you then also get chemicals like Fluoride and Triclosan added toothpastes.
These are also endocrine disruptors and can lead to lowered testosterone & potentially other health issues!
You can find out more about things that lower testosterone specifically in toothpastes in the below article.

Toothbrush
So we are back to bashing plastics, as I imagine that is what most of your toothbrushes are made of.
If your toothbrush is made from something non-toxic like say bamboo you’re all good!
I won’t go over all the chemicals in plastics again and how they are things that lower testosterone.
Just note you standard plastic toothbrush exposes to you to chemicals that lower testosterone.
As a safe alternative, I would suggest opting for a bamboo toothbrush.
They are free of toxic chemicals, bio degradable so great for the environment and very cost effective.
I cover them in a bit more detail in the below article.
Plastic Things That Lower Testosterone & Safe Alternatives
Mouthwash
Much the same as toothpastes and shower gels, your mouthwash contains multiple toxic chemicals that lower testosterone production.
With the mouth being one of the most absorbent parts of the body, it’s a big issue.
I won’t go in to great details; but chemicals found in most mouthwash brands like SLS & fluoride & even alcohol are things that lower testosterone.
Again I’ve done an in depth article in to the chemicals and things that lower testosterone found in mouthwash brands.
I also recommend the brands I use that are safe and the type of brands that are safe. Check it out below:
6 Chemicals That Lower Testosterone Found In Mouthwash
Skin Care Items
By skin care items I am referring to things like shaving creams, moisturisers, facial washes, facial scrubs etc.
Much like shower gels, these are laden with things that lower testosterone production.
Again I won’t bore you with all the different chemicals right here; but a number of them are endocrine disruptors & chemicals that mimic estrogen.
Again I’ve done a couple of articles looking at this in depth.
I go through the different chemicals and the risks they pose to health on top of being things that lower testosterone.
You can check out the articles and learn more about what type of brands are safe to opt for from these articles below.
Things That Lower Testosterone
The Tap
This one will be a bit of a shock for you I’d imagine! The reason this is included is most tap water supplies have fluoride and chlorine added.
As we’ve mentioned earlier in this article, fluoride is one of the things that lowers testosterone.
Chlorine in studies has also been shown to lower T by as much as 20%.
That study was done on males using chlorine treated swimming pools and there was an up to a drop of 20% from swimming in it alone.
Imagine what impact ingesting it can have!
There are a few different options for filtering tap and shower water, so you don’t have to drink these chemicals/ absorb them through your skin (in the shower etc.)
I’ll be doing a more in depth article on this and the options to avoid these chemicals found in water in the future.
So keep an eye out for that, you can also check out the below article where I suggest a couple of water filter options.
Your Electronic Devices
This is probably going to be even more of shock than your drinking water being one of the things that lower testosterone production.
But your electronic devices pose a threat to testosterone production & male health as a whole down to something called EMF.
This is electromagnetic frequencies & it is something that is emitted from most things, including the bodies cells which have their own EMF.
Unlike the EMF from our cells & other natural things, the ones produced from technology are far more intense and can result in health issues.
Powerful artificial EMFs, like those from cell/ mobile phones, microwaves, phone towers & microwaves, can enter the body and interfere with your biology.
This biological interference can negatively impact stress levels, sleep cycles, immune system, DNA and how well your testes work.
Now your stress levels & sleep cycle are very important for your T production & both not being healthy negatively impacts them.
Another reason biological interference is one of the major things that lowers testosterone, is that the testes are extremely sensitive to it.
This disruption can lower testosterone, sperm production & sperm quality in the testicles.
Needless to say that technology is everywhere, in terms of how to protect your testes, there are a couple of EMF blocking underwear brands that will help and increase T as a result.
I won’t go in to this in any more detail in this article, I suggest you check out my interview with Antonio Matos the CEO of Faraday’s underwear.
You can find out all about it in the below article.
